Early Ages

Ages 6-9

A multi-sport foundation where children explore a wide range of physical activities. The emphasis is on movement literacy, enjoyment, and fun competitions that spark a lifelong love of sport.

Physical Conditioning Program

Our conditioning program develops eight foundational physical capabilities — the building blocks behind every elite Jaguar athlete.

Acceleration, top-end velocity, and sprint mechanics through progressive drills.

Change-of-direction speed, reactive agility, and multi-directional movement patterns.
Strength
Age-appropriate resistance training to build muscular strength and joint stability.

FECAD Tournaments

Central American Student Sports Federation. Costa Rica's top school athletes competing against the best from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.

ISF World School Games

The International School Sport Federation organizes the world's largest multi-sport event for school athletes, with delegations from over 50 countries.

Mundial de Porrismo

The World Cheerleading Championship, where GVS cheerleading squads showcase their routines against elite programs from across the globe.

ODESUR

South American Sports Organization events that open pathways for our athletes to compete at continental level, expanding their competitive horizons.

Sports Scholarships

Golden Valley has established a formal Sports Scholarship Protocol designed to provide financial support to students with outstanding athletic abilities, enabling them to continue their academic formation while representing the school in competitions and sporting events.

Admission Criteria

50%

Athletic Performance

Sports history, achievements, medals, and results of physical and skill evaluations conducted by the school.

30%

Academic Achievement

Minimum GPA of 85 in the previous school year. Academic recommendations from prior educators.

10%

Attitude & Commitment

Evaluation of disposition, commitment, sportsmanship, and attitude toward the school community.

10%

Financial Need

Supporting documentation may be requested to evaluate the applicant's economic situation.

General Requirements
Academic average above 85 in the previous year
Conduct score of 95 or above
Intermediate English level (certifiable through exam)
Minimum 90% attendance at training sessions and competitions
Athletic Requirements
Active in a recognized school, regional, or national sports team
Evidence: medals, trophies, and recognition awards
Coach or sports federation recommendations
Video evidence demonstrating sports skills
Ideal physical condition verified by performance testing or medical exam

The Scholarship Pathway

Application & Documentation

Complete the official scholarship application form with personal data, academic history, sports experience, and coach recommendation letters.

Athletic Assessment

Sport-specific skill evaluations are conducted on campus. Videos, trophies, federation credentials, and competitive records are reviewed.

Academic Review

The admissions team evaluates academic transcripts, conduct records, English proficiency, and educator recommendations.

4
Committee Decision

The Sports Scholarship Committee reviews all evidence, conducts a family interview, and makes the final award decision. Successful applicants sign the Educational Contract.

Scholarship Commitments

Student
  • Maintain 90% minimum attendance at training and competitions
  • Sustain academic average above 85 each semester
  • Represent GVS with integrity and sportsmanship in all events
  • Exemplary conduct inside and outside the institution
  • Actively participate in school athletic programs and community events
Family
  • Ensure the student meets all program requirements
  • Provide reliable transportation to training and competitions
  • Maintain constant communication with the athletics department
  • Support the student's academic and athletic balance
  • Report any situation affecting performance or commitment
Golden Valley School
  • Provide quality coaching from certified professionals
  • Offer academic support and tutoring when needed
  • Facilitate competition opportunities at national and international levels
  • Maintain open and transparent communication with families
  • Respect the rights and privacy of the student and family
Scholarships are not renewed automatically. Renewal is based on sustained performance and requires re-application with evidence of continued achievement. Appeals processes are available for all decisions.
