Annual Athletics Events
Throughout the year, GVS Athletics brings students, families, and staff together through a vibrant calendar of recurring sporting events.
Sports Day
A full-day celebration of athletics, featuring track and field events, team relays, and friendly competition across all grade levels.
Inter-House Tournaments
Multi-sport tournaments where school houses compete for glory in football, basketball, volleyball, and more, building camaraderie and school spirit.
Fitness Challenges
Individual and team fitness tests that track student progress in strength, endurance, and agility across the school year.
Community Runs
Family-friendly running events that bring students, parents, teachers, and staff together to promote an active lifestyle beyond the classroom.
Swimming Galas
Competitive and exhibition swimming events showcasing all four modalities, from aquatic stimulation to competitive racing.
Gala Deportiva
The Gala Deportiva is Golden Valley's premier annual athletic celebration — a formal evening event that brings together students, families, coaches, and the school community to honor the dedication, achievements, and sportsmanship of our Jaguar athletes throughout the year.
This special ceremony recognizes excellence across all sports programs and celebrates the values of teamwork, perseverance, and fair play that define Jaguar athletics.

Competition Calendar
Key competitions and tournaments our Jaguars participate in throughout the academic year.
MEP Juegos Estudiantiles
The national student games organized by the Ministry of Public Education (MEP). GVS competes in 10 disciplines across 5 classification stages — from regional through national finals.
FECAD Tournaments
The Central American Student Sports Federation organizes international competitions where top-performing MEP athletes represent Costa Rica. GVS students have the opportunity to compete at the Central American level.
ISF Events
The International School Sport Federation organizes world-class competitions for school-age athletes. Qualifying GVS athletes can represent Costa Rica on the global stage in various disciplines.
Swimming Championships
Regional and national swimming competitions where GVS swimmers compete across multiple categories. Our aquatics program prepares students from initiation through competitive levels.
Track & Field Meets
Cross-country and track events throughout the year. GVS competes in 6 events across 5 MEP classification stages, from institutional to national level. Little Athletics for younger students.
