Organizations
Model United Nations (MUN)
DiplomacyMUN is an academic simulation where students take on the roles of diplomats representing countries. They research global issues, draft position papers, and engage in structured debates to find collaborative solutions to real-world problems — from climate change to international security.
Students develop research, critical thinking, assertive communication, debate, diplomacy, and position paper writing skills. GVS participates in up to four national and international MUN events per year.
Requirement: Minimum academic average of 87 in all subjects.
National Honor Society (NHS)
LeadershipFounded in 1921, the NHS is an internationally recognized organization that honors outstanding students for academic achievement, leadership, character, and community service. Our GVS chapter promotes ethical leadership and meaningful social impact projects.
Members maintain a minimum GPA of 3.7/4.0, complete community service hours, participate in tutoring, solidarity activities, and lead an annual social or environmental impact project.
Open to students from Grade 10 (décimo) and above.
COEEPI
Social ActionThe Comisión Organizadora del Encuentro Estudiantil sobre Pueblos Indígenas is a student-led initiative of 15 students (grades 6–12) passionate about cultural exchange and community service. Founded in 2022, COEEPI builds bridges with Costa Rica's indigenous communities through encounters, educational visits, and donation drives.
Activities include visits to Boruca, Bribri-Cabécar territories, and hosting indigenous students at GVS.
