At GVS, every student finds their place in sport. Our dual-pathway model ensures that whether a student is exploring for the first time or training to compete, they receive the coaching and support they need.

Club Pathway

Formative & Pre-Competitive

The Club pathway provides access to sport through a formative methodology where students learn through play, develop physical and technical capabilities, and build confidence in a supportive environment. Open to all students regardless of skill level.

Selection Pathway

Formative & Competitive

The Selection pathway identifies students with advanced skills and competitive drive to represent GVS in official tournaments. Athletes undergo tryouts and commit to structured training regimens with the goal of excelling at regional, national, and international levels.

Six sports form the competitive backbone of GVS Athletics. Our teams train year-round and represent the school in MEP, national, and international tournaments.

Futbol — Football Academy x Cubujuqui FC

Our flagship sport operates in official partnership with Academia de Futbol Cubujuqui, bringing professional coaching methodology and structured development pathways to Golden Valley. Athletes train year-round in age-appropriate programs designed by licensed coaches — from foundational motor skills in early childhood to tactical sophistication in high school.

Competitive teams in both primary and secondary levels. Basketball Nights bring the community together for evening showcase events. Skill clinics and formative clubs build the next generation of Jaguar players, while our varsity teams compete in MEP regular and 3x3 formats.

Track & Field

Atletismo

Sprint, distance, jumping, and throwing events across both cross-country and track disciplines. Our Little Athletics program develops the youngest runners, while primary and secondary teams compete across 6 events in MEP classification stages. A sport that builds individual excellence.

A year-round program spanning four modalities: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. From aquatic stimulation in Montessori through competitive swimming with MEP participation, our pool-based programs develop water confidence, technique, and competitive performance at every stage.

Cheerleading

Porrismo

Dance, stunts, and team spirit taken to the competitive stage. GVS cheerleading squads compete at both national and international levels, including the prestigious Mundial de Porrismo (World Cheerleading Championship). Primary and secondary squads develop performance skills, teamwork, and athletic precision.

MEP Juegos Deportivos Estudiantiles

GVS participates in over 10 disciplines within Costa Rica's official national student games organized by the Ministry of Education (MEP). Athletes compete across 5 classification stages -- from regional to national finals -- with 20 to 24 matches per discipline per season.
