Huge congratulations to our U15 team for representing Golden Valley School at the Panamá Cup! Three matches at the Yappy Park stadium, in demanding heat and against high-level opposition. The first finished 0-0 against Villanorma. The second was against Águilas, the best team in the tournament, with three players from Panama's U15 national squad: we lost 4-1, and testing themselves against that level is exactly what our boys went there to do. Their commitment was clear from the very first minute: Fabián Shum flew in from Spain and went straight from the airport to the stadium to play the opening match.
An international tour teaches what no training session can. The boys learned to adapt to different pitches, a different climate and different ways of competing, and to keep their heads up when things do not go their way. Nine of them travelled without their parents for the first time and responded with a maturity that makes us proud: every morning at seven they were showered, ready and having breakfast together. The delegation travelled with our Director of Admissions and our Sports Coordinator, who were with the boys at every moment.
The tournament also left them with friendships. Four boys from the academy of Brunet Hay, the former Panamanian professional who played in Costa Rica, joined our team and ended the week as friends of our students. There was also time to discover the country: the Causeway and Los Pueblitos, with a tour and a talk on Panamanian history. This is how sport becomes a tool for formation and a window onto the world, exactly as the International Baccalaureate philosophy intends.
Marcelo Meoño sat his admission exam and his sports trials just a few weeks ago, and he has already travelled to Panama with the team. That is how we work at GVS: a new student arrives, settles in, and competes alongside his teammates from day one.
We close with great news: the tournament's scouts asked about Adrián Ordóñez, Felipe Ruiz and Fabián Shum.
We are deeply grateful for the unconditional support of the GVS families and the expert guidance of our coaching staff. If your son would like an experience like this one, the doors of the Jaguars Academy are open. Keep training hard and keep flying the flag for our school. Go Jaguars!
